My Summer Style: Recent Purchases + Perennial Favorites

It took a long while for summer to finally hit Boston this year so I’m a bit delayed on this — but the sun is finally shining in full force and I’m thriving in my summer style! I wanted to share some of my recent purchases + perennial favorites that feel chic but effortless in this grand season.

A few of my past investments that still shine as favorites include:

  1. This Dragon Diffusion woven Nantucket leather bag is an absolute forever favorite of mine. It fits everything and is just as capable as my poolside bag holding a towel, summer book, and SPF as it is with a sundress and heels for date night.
  2. I keep a few sunglasses on rotation and rely on them year round. I have two Raybans (these and these) and love that they are so classic that they’ll transcend trends, and also got this pair of Miu Miu shades a couple years ago that give me that “touch of now” because trends aren’t all bad 😉
  3. You probably have realized by now that I rely on this hat all spring and summer long to turn every outfit into a stylish one. The fit is perfect and worth the splurge — the cost per wear is already down to pennies for me. I’ve had it for two or three years now and still looks brand new!
  4. I’d wanted these YSL Nu Pieds sandals for a long while and invested in them a couple years ago and they are my go-tos. Just like the Nantucket bag, they go with everything. I’m hoping to add the black pair to my wardrobe at some point as well!
  5. I’ve had at least one pair of these simple J. Crew 4″ chino shorts in my summer closet since college — the white pair is a must!

Most all of my “perennial favorites” are investment pieces I’ve collected over the years. I like to treat myself to one or two “special” pieces each season (case in point, this incredible top by one of my new favorite designers Ciao Lucia) then pad them with lower priced trendier pieces that feel more fleeting or experimental. That said, Mango has been a rock-solid go to for me these past couple of years for just that: affordable, fun pieces to sprinkle in some timelier trends to play with in my wardrobe.

That said, even with stores like these, I’m very selective, carefully looking at fabric content (I steer to the 100% cotton or 100% linen pieces, and have even tried some of the “sustainable” collective pieces that are made from recycled synthetics). I’ve been surprised by how long a few of these items have stuck around when carefully considered (some of the cotton poplin button downs have lasted me years!). The pieces I’ve shared here are the ones I just added to my own closet and happily recommend them. xx!
